And so it begins...
Anticipation for this new legislation built steadily since it was first announced and the first round of public consultation sessions started in 2012. Condominium homeowners, developers and representatives of the various professions serving condominium corporations participated in those sessions. CK Legal was represented in several meetings including public town halls, private discussion groups of the Canadian Condominium Institute, the Ontario Home Builders Association and BILD, and in various consultation meetings with government staff members and other professionals.
Now that the public input is over and the draft legislation has been introduced, the lawyers and staff of CK Legal are doing the hard work of reviewing every word and every punctuation mark to get a more perfect understanding of exactly what has been changed and what those changes will mean for the ways that condominiums in Ontario are built, owned and managed; and we’re about ready to let you know what we think.
In this blog – which will commence in early July 2015 – we will deliver not only our technical findings but also our analysis and commentary based on years of advising literally hundreds of clients, including condominium corporations, their owners, managers, directors and developers, on virtually all matters under the Condominium Act, 1998. And we invite you not only to read along but to join the conversation.
We welcome your comments and questions, which can be submitted to us directly on this blog page, through our Facebook or Twitter accounts, or by emailing us at info@cklegal.ca. Also let us know if you’d like to be on our mailing list to get direct notification of each new entry (and any related articles, memos or Condopædia entries we publish).
We’re excited about the benefits and challenges that the new legislation presents and hope that you will be helped in your own reading and understanding of it by what we publish here.
